And finally, from the beginning of the new millennium, we will see the new disciplinary crisis that affected his theoretical proposals with the loss of the central place he occupied in the field of Argentine Foreign Policy and his attempts to reverse that situation. El objetivo de este artículo es bosquejar los principales rasgos de la obra teórica de Carlos Escudé y cuál ha sido su lugar en los estudios de las relaciones internacionales argentinas.A lo largo del trabajo exploraremos a través de una metodología cualitativa, los orígenes de su pensamiento en los años ochenta al calor de los debates con Mario Rapoport y Roberto Russell, en los cuales nuestro autor esbozó los primeros trazos del Realismo Periférico durante la primera crisis paradigmática disciplinar.En un segundo núcleo exploraremos su propuesta teórica que constituyó el núcleo central del nuevo momento paradigmático durante en los noventa. Y finalmente desde el comienzo del nuevo milenio, veremos la nueva crisis disciplinar que afectó a sus planteos teóricos con la pérdida del lugar central que ocupaba en el campo de la Política Externa Argentina y sus intentos por revertir esa situación.
