On the one hand, the organizational process and its links with ecclesial, technical, union and state actors are described in a course of politicization of the sector that materialized in the formation of the Central Commission of Peasants. On the other hand, it seeks to problematize the production of discourses on peasant identity, evidencing the representations that various actors -positively or negatively- begin to discursively cement in the construction of a collective subject that will later lead to the formation of the MOCASE (Movimiento Campesino de Santiago del Estero) and other indigenous organizations and communities in recent years. From the analysis of a documentary corpus composed of journalistic clippings, technical reports, minutes of meetings, together with interviews with key informants, we contribute to problematize the forms of construction of peasant political identity in embryonic moments of struggle and resistance after territorial conflicts. El artículo pone el foco en el surgimiento de la acción colectiva del campesinado santiagueño durante la década del ochenta, específicamente en la localidad de Los Juríes. Por una parte, se describe el proceso organizativo  y sus vínculos con actores eclesiales, técnicos, gremiales y estatales en un derrotero de politización del sector que se materializó en la conformación de la Comisión Central de Campesinos. Por otro, se busca problematizar la producción de discursos sobre la identidad campesina evidenciado las representaciones que diversos actores –de manera positiva o negativa- comienzan a cimentar discursivamente en la construcción de un sujeto colectivo que posteriormente decantará en la formación del MOCASE (Movimiento Campesino de Santiago del Estero) y de otras organizaciones y comunidades indígenas en los últimos años. A partir del análisis de un corpus documental compuesto por recortes periodísticos, informes técnicos, actas de reuniones, conjuntamente con entrevistas a informantes claves, contribuimos a problematizar las formas de construcción de la identidad política campesina en momentos embrionarios de lucha y resistencia tras los conflictos territoriales.
