It is based on a quantitative methodological design using as a source the individual microdata bases of the Permanent Household Survey, belonging to the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of the Argentine Republic (INDEC). The results obtained show that youth self-employment in the analyzed territory increased in the context of the pandemic, especially in young people of lower age and educational level. Although similar trends and characteristics of this occupational category are observed in this urban agglomeration in the total population, young people are in a more disadvantaged position in terms of working conditions. El artículo propone una caracterización del cuentapropismo de jóvenes que residen en el aglomerado urbano Gran Resistencia (provincia del Chaco), mostrando algunas variaciones en este grupo en dos contextos temporales (prepandemia/pandemia) y comparando las mismas con algunas tendencias a nivel nacional y en la región NEA (nordeste argentino). Se parte de un diseño metodológico cuantitativo, recurriendo al procesamiento estadístico descriptivo, utilizando como fuente las bases de microdatos individuales de la Encuesta Permanente de Hogares (EPH) perteneciente al Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos de la República Argentina (INDEC). Los resultados obtenidos muestran que el cuentapropismo juvenil en el territorio analizado se incrementó en el contexto de pandemia, especialmente en jóvenes de menor edad y nivel educativo. Si bien en este aglomerado urbano se observan tendencias y características similares de esta categoría ocupacional en la población total, el grupo de jóvenes se encuentran en una posición de mayor desventaja en términos de condiciones de trabajo.
