This article aims to elucidate the contemporary modalities adopted by the representation of migrants, one of the main targets of alterization or estrangement from which national citizens conceive themselves. To achieve this objective, a group of recent journalistic articles will be analyzed in light of the specific forms that the discursive construction of the figure of migrants has acquired throughout Argentina’s history. A través del texto y del habla, las élites discursivas prefiguran la imagen que una gran parte de las personas se forjan de “los otros”, con quienes en muy escasas ocasiones establecen contacto o vínculos reales capaces de poner en cuestión dichos esquemas perceptivos. Este artículo se propone dilucidar las modalidades contemporáneas que adopta la representación del/a migrante, uno de los principales focos de alterización o extrañamiento a partir del cual los ciudadanos/as nacionales se conciben a sí mismos/as. Para la consecución de dicho objetivo, se analizarán una serie de artículos periodísticos de publicación reciente a la luz de las formas específicas que, a lo largo de la historia argentina, ha adquirido la construcción discursiva de la figura de los/as migrantes.
