What and who makes one body matter more than another ? Could an absent body occupy the public space? What conditions are required for this to happen? To answer this questions, this papel explores and links the case study of the 43 missing students of Ayotzinapa with the representations derived from the “absent body”. Therefore, the challenge is to demostrate that the visibility of the body goes beyond the material nature. Este artículo se adentra en el análisis de la performatividad, la potencialidad y la representación del cuerpo inmaterial. ¿Qué y quién hace que un cuerpo importe más que otro? ¿Puede un cuerpo ausente ocupar el espacio público? ¿Qué condiciones se requieren para que esto suceda? Para responder estas preguntas, se explora y relaciona el estudio de caso sobre los 43 estudiantes de Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, con las representaciones derivadas del cuerpo “desaparecido”. El reto esta, entonces, en demostrar que la visibilidad de un cuerpo puede ir más allá de su materialidad.
