Las maras son un fenómeno más que presente para las sociedades del Triángulo Norte Centroamericano – El Salvador, Honduras y Guatemala –. La complejidad que dicha situación ha adquirido como consecuencia de un proceso de securitización, contribuyó a que El Salvador declare a las maras como terroristas. El presente artículo se pregunta por las condiciones en las cuales se desarrolla tal decisión y por los efectos producidos por dicha denominación.
