The present article wonders about the conditions in which this policy is being developed and the effects produced by this denomination. Las maras son un fenómeno más que presente para las sociedades del Triángulo Norte Centroamericano – El Salvador, Honduras y Guatemala –. La complejidad que dicha situación ha adquirido como consecuencia de un proceso de securitización, contribuyó a que El Salvador declare a las maras como terroristas. El presente artículo se pregunta por las condiciones en las cuales se desarrolla tal decisión y por los efectos producidos por dicha denominación.
