Sumario:The expectations that families have about the education of their children and the school is the objective of the study. Through a qualitative methodology, 12 families belonging to rural, peri-urban and urban primary education establishments in Chile were interviewed. The results show the predominance of expectations oriented towards comprehensive education and awareness of their role in the learning of their pupils. They recognize the family-school bond, the role of the family and the student's commitment as conditioning factors to meet academic expectations.
