Sumario:This research describes the motivations, strategies and resources applied by the social movement of students at the University of Talca in the protests of 1983, considering the contributions and limits of the resource mobilization theory as an explanatory key. Based on the identification of the repertoires of collective action mobilized by university students from Talca, a characterization of internal and external strategies to the movement is proposed that, as a whole, account for a political action determined by rational elements, as well as sensitive ones. This research is eminently descriptive and qualitative, since it is based on the analysis of structured interviews, press records and focus groups made to former student leaders, academics and social actors outside the walls of the University of Talca in 1983.
