Sumario:In order to investigate the participation of social Catholicism in the process of construction of social policies in Argentina at the beginning of the twentieth century, this paper analyzes the creation and implementation of the National Postal Savings Bank between 1914 and 1916. In particular, it examines the role of Catholic legislators in the design, debate and approval of the bill that gave rise to this organization, taking into account the background, principles and arguments on which they were based. It also studies the strategies implemented by the clergy, the press and the Catholic laity to disseminate and promote the practice of postal savings during the first years of the institution's operation. The hypothesis is that Catholics played an active role in the creation of this institution and collaborated with the State in its implementation, because postal savings harmonized with the values and conceptions of social Catholicism and, at the same time, with the purpose of expanding its influence among the working sectors and advancing in the Christianization of society.
