| Sumario: | Media information about science and technology has been thoroughly studied in Spain. However, there remains an important gap concerning the analysis of comments about these topics. And it is not a minor one, considering the strategic role accomplished by this journalistic genre within the public opinion system, setting the points of discussion and providing arguments and points of view to the public. In this thematic area, concretely, journalistic comments contribute to the formation of scientific culture and encourage the public to take an interest in science policy. With the aim of fulfilling, partially at least, the above-mentioned gap, this article presents the results of the first exhaustive content analysis of the comments about those subjects published during an entire calendar year by two leading Spanish newspapers, El Pais and La Vanguardia. |
