| Sumario: | This article is the starting point of an investigation that aims to study the agro-industrial project carried out by Thomas Thomas in the Pampean region throughout the second half of the 19th century. In this work, the social network that led to the construction of Graneros y Muelles del Rosario is studied from a local perspective, prioritizing the role occupied by the businessman in the future of the company. From a relational point of view, we approached for the first time one of the companies in which Thomas appears as a founding partner in order to lay the foundations and study his other ventures, which will allow us to define his profile as a multi-implanted entrepreneur. The decision to establish this type of industry was not fortuitous but rather coincided in time with the commercial control at the regional level exercised by the main Rosario businessmen, thus integrating the local space into the international commercial circuits through the implementation of infrastructure works that communicated the city with the cereal pampas. The network of sociability that made that company possible constituted a powerful plot around the entrepreneur to give legal, technical, administrative, political and social consistency to this and to his other projects. |
