| Sumario: | This paper seeks to reflect on the contemporary role of architectural archives through the experience of the Architectural Document Laboratory (LabDA) of the Architecture and Urbanism Institute of the Habitat and Sustainability School at the National University of San Martín. The provisional and partial reflections arise from two dimensions of the Laboratory's recent work. On one hand, they are linked to a series of institutional redefinitions which are currently in process; they deal with the professionalization of the archive. On the other, they represent some considerations arising from the beginning of the archival processing of two documentary groups. The first one is part of Molina y Vedia Repository: 379 plans he produced during his work as a design architect, and his collection of specialized magazines. All these documents were donated to the University and are in custody of LabDA. The second group is part of Leston Repository: 677 plans the architect created in various areas of his professional and academic work. While these documents are in custody of their creator, LabDA has been identifying, classifying, and digitizing them. |
