Sumario:Architect Francisco Patxi Mangado was interviewed in the context of the Latin American Architecture Biennial which took place in Pamplona in May 2017. This conversation is focused on the concept of memory and its interaction with the architectural project. The biographical memory enables to consider the significance of memories shaping the architect’s personality while a more instrumental dimension allows the operation in the city through built segments over time. The dialogue deals with the concepts of material, construction and time enhancing the comprehension of not only the work of this Spanish architect but also his academic role as professor in postgraduate education. It is in the Museum of Archaeology in Vitoria that Mangado’s ideas take shape. The museum has become the means by which Mangado has turned his work into the backdrop of a city in which memory is alive.
