The article analyzes multiple dimensions -epistemic, poetic and pedagogical- introduced by these creation sketchbooks and it documents internal experiences of the associated archival work. It also integrates findings from recent research (such as the theses carried out by Francisca Oñate and Natalia Duimovic), the development of the digital platform Cuaderno Grama, and the cultural heritage project Entre Páginas y Dibujos. It examines how these initiatives have influenced the experiences of the AHJVA and highlights how the interaction of students, faculty, and researchers with the sketchbooks generates new meanings, learning, and a sense of community. The article concludes that a situated academic archive can become a living laboratory that links memory to creation, thereby projecting its legacy to new generations. El presente artículo explora el Archivo Histórico José Vial Armstrong (AHJVA) de la Escuela de Arquitectura y Diseño de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (e[ad] PUCV), enfocándose en el conjunto Cuadernos Fundadores como un archivo vivo. Se analizan las múltiples dimensiones –epistémicas, poéticas y pedagógicas– de estos cuadernos de creación y se documentan las vivencias internas del trabajo de archivo asociado. Se integran hallazgos de investigaciones recientes (como las tesis de Francisca Oñate y Natalia Duimovic), el desarrollo de la plataforma digital CuadernoGrama y el proyecto patrimonial Entre Páginas y Dibujos, examinando cómo estas iniciativas han accionado en las vivencias del AHJVA, destacando cómo la interacción de estudiantes, docentes e investigadores con los cuadernos-bitácora genera nuevos significados, aprendizajes y sentido de comunidad. El artículo concluye que un archivo académico situado puede convertirse en un laboratorio vivo que vincula memoria y creación, proyectando su legado hacia las nuevas generaciones.
