Sumario:This manuscript shares the experience developed in the second level of the Vertical Workshop on Contemporary Thought which is part of the historical-social knowledge sub-area of the Industrial Design degree at the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design of the National University of Mar del Plata. It seeks to think about design in retrospect to identify and trace situated processes; it does so understanding that the interdisciplinary reading between design and context enables critical knowledge of what is produced, allows interpretations and transfers to different areas and design scales as well as different times and geographical territories.Considering the theory/project feedback in the Industrial Design degree, the subject is introduced as a theoretical-practical workshop grounded on five chronological axes between the 5th century and the 18th century in different European regions. This implies the exploration of both the design processes developed before the Industrial Revolution and the emergence of the designer as a subject which, in turn, articulate transfers to the material culture of the present time.
