Sumario:A teaching experience developed in 2023 by the Escuela de Arquitectura y Diseño de Latinoamérica y el Caribe (Isthmus), located in Panamá, is presented. It links industrial architecture to rural territory, and it is based on theoretical reflections on current issues and their relation to the architectural discipline which are applied in a design workshop. The proposal is to work through two interrelated scales of analysis. The first one is connected to the territory, the landscape, and the importance of rural areas, where tourism could become an ally in the appreciation and enjoyment of agriculture spaces. The second scale involves industrial architecture introduced as an educational strategy emphasizing the importance of functionality and the technical and constructive dimensions of the building. Using the Problem-Based Learning approach, active learning is encouraged. The results show the successes and challenges of the experience which can be leveraged for future instances as well as for reviewing how architecture is taught and conceptualized in relation to its context.
