Since the beginning of the 21st century, Ruth has observed architectural production changes in both work organization and design approach responsiveness. There has been an emergence of collectives with unique features and an increased emphasis on landscape as a source of inspiration for project development.Regarding historiography and criticism, she reflects on the quantitative and qualitative changes and the potential academic and professional exchanges that have occurred within the last two decades. Concerning her participation in the Ibero-American Biennial Awards (2008), the successive editions of the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP), the Salmona, and the International Students Architectural Award (ISAA), she describes the use of various criticism exercises to test truly innovative and contemporary approaches to architecture in Latin America.
