description En este libro, el autor, profesor de Biblia y Próximo Oriente Antiguo de la Universidad de Brandeis – USA, propone un entendimiento profundo de la naturaleza y composición del Código de la Alianza y su relación con la tradición legal mesopotámica. Trabajo de investigación que comenzó en 1998, al buscar correlaciones secuenciales entre las dos colecciones. De ello surgieron diferentes artículos sobre el tema, el primero fue publicado en el New England Regional Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature, en Abril de 1999 (Newton, Massachusetts). Desde entonces, ha informado sobre sus descubrimientos en diversos reuniones profesionales nacionales e internacionales. También publicó preliminares versiones de sus hallazgos en tres artículos, el primero "The Law of Hammurabi as a Source for the Covenant Collection,” publicado en Maarav2 en 2003, y dos en la Zeitschrift für altorientalische und Biblische Rechtsgeschichte: “The Compositional Logic of the Goring Ox and Negligence” and “The Fallacies of Chiasmus,” 2004. Con estas primeras publicaciones trató de generar una respuesta de sus colegas. Ante las críticas a sus trabajos, recurrió a repetir y perfeccionar la presentación de los datos en un segundo artículo publicado en Maarav: "The Laws of Hammurabi and the Covenant Code: A Response to Bruce Wells,” en 2006.
