It relates the debates about the foundation of mathematics of the early twentieth century with the main positions defended on the subject within the philosophical tradition. He concludes with the thesis that Aristotelian thought retains its validity for those who defend the unity of knowledge, but criticizes the great distance introduced between logic and mathematics. El texto pasa revista a la presencia de la matemática en el corpus aristotélico. Examina su relación con la lógica y las partes sustantivas más características de la filosofía teórica: física y metafísica. Relaciona los debates sobre fundamentación de la matemática de principios del siglo XX con las principales posiciones defendidas al respecto dentro de la tradición filosófica.
