description This paper considers the recent forms of travel as a human experience, and their related travel reports. The estate of the academic studies on literature of travel is briefly mentioned. The displacement and the voyager are considered from a theoretical point of view, while some practical examples are offered. The contents, intentions and functions of the travel report are pondered. The influence of technological developments on new opportunities to experience the foreign without traveling is discussed, as well as the appearance of audiovisual textualities that compete for the attention of the travel report’s reader. The situation of migrants and exiles as forced travelers, as well as the activity of journalists as privileged authors of travel literature are marked out.
