To address this problem, a study was carried out with the aim of assessing the state of the tourism offer, identifying weaknesses and strengths, and proposing actions to improve its positioning and take advantage of the identity elements. The methodology used included a diagnosis in 2018 with secondary sources, fieldwork, constant interaction with stakeholders, workshops, interviews and a survey in 2022. The results revealed a developed support infrastructure and natural resources with potential to be integrated into the tourism offer. However, weaknesses were identified in the positioning and promotion of Barrancabermeja's identity as a tourist destination. In terms of discussion, the importance of interaction with the actors of the sector and the tourism potential of the municipality is highlighted. The main conclusions indicate the need to improve the positioning of tourism and to make effective use of the elements of identity. It is recommended to implement marketing and promotion strategies, strengthen collaboration between stakeholders and promote the tourism potential of Barrancabermeja. El municipio de Barrancabermeja enfrenta desafíos en su oferta turística, la competitividad de la cadena de valor y el posicionamiento como destino turístico. Para abordar esta problemática, se llevó a cabo un estudio con el objetivo de evaluar el estado de la oferta turística, identificar debilidades y fortalezas, y proponer acciones para mejorar el posicionamiento y aprovechar los elementos identitarios. La metodología utilizada incluyó un diagnóstico en 2018 con fuentes secundarias, trabajo de campo, interacción constante con los actores del sector, talleres, entrevistas y una encuesta en 2022. Los resultados revelaron una infraestructura de soporte desarrollada y recursos naturales con potencial para integrarse en la oferta turística. Sin embargo, se identificaron debilidades en el posicionamiento y la promoción de la identidad de Barrancabermeja como destino turístico. En términos de discusión, se resalta la importancia de la interacción con los actores del sector y el potencial turístico del municipio. Las principales conclusiones indican la necesidad de mejorar el posicionamiento turístico y aprovechar de manera efectiva los elementos identitarios. Se recomienda implementar estrategias de marketing y promoción, fortalecer la colaboración entre los actores involucrados y promover el potencial turístico de Barrancabermeja.
