From a quantitative perspective, exploratory research was carried out in the Los Lagos Region. Based on the application of a questionnaire to national visitors and tourists (n=200), the research aims to determine the motivations and conditions of the journey to the region in relation to the reasons for choosing this area and the development of tourist activity during leisure time. The results highlight motivations linked to the choice of this place for the visual landscapes and the tranquility it presents; attractions related to the lake area. In addition, a certain level of criticism emerges regarding the scarce time devoted to rest due to the tourism activities; the relevant role of technological devices that accompany the visits and the use of private means of transport when moving around the territory. It is concluded that the relevance of analyzing tourism as an activity in movement is substantial in order to move forward in the development of this activity beyond its implications. En el marco de los estudios del turismo, cobran relevancia aquellas perspectivas que se interesan por conocer aspectos relacionados con las motivaciones y condiciones que orientan las decisiones de los turistas y visitantes frente a la elección de lugares para practicar el turismo. Desde una perspectiva cuantitativa, se desarrolló una investigación exploratoria en la Región de Los Lagos. A partir de la aplicación de un cuestionario a visitantes y turistas nacionales (n=200), la investigación tiene por objetivo determinar las motivaciones y las condiciones de viaje a la región en relación con las causales de elección de esta zona y el desarrollo de la actividad turística en tiempos de ocio. Dentro de los resultados, destacan motivaciones vinculadas a la elección de este lugar por los paisajes visuales y la tranquilidad que presenta; atractivos relacionados con la zona lacustre. Además, emerge cierto nivel de crítica respecto al escaso tiempo destinado al descanso a partir del turismo; el relevante papel de los dispositivos tecnológicos que acompañan las visitas y el uso de medios de transporte particulares al momento de moverse por el territorio. Se concluye que la relevancia de analizar el turismo como actividad en movimiento es sustancial para avanzar en el desarrollo de esta actividad más allá de sus implicancias netamente.
