description The purpose of this article is to analyze the way in which the interaction between the discourses of statutes and differentiated epistemologies becomes a clear feature of postmodernism. This text is a testimony produced by an archeological and ethnographic enterprise. It was carried out in he Mayan area between 1832 and 1836 by Frédéric de Waldeck. We shall examine how, in this text, Waldeck interpolates typical strategies of literary work into a discourse which insists upon its own scientific value.
