Both the Hellenistic tradition and the typical pro-Hellenistic claims of the author and the Greeks of the second sophistry have been taken into account. The above, bearing in mind the cult to the figure of the Pelides that still survived in Plutarch's time, the constant indirect parallels that Plutarch outlines between one character and the other, as well as the manifest intention of Pyrrhus to imitate the ancient heroes of Troy who fought at Ilion.
