The objective of this article is to demonstrate, through various women experiences, in Nova Friburgo municipality, mountainous region of the Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil, after an extreme climatic event in January 2011, the strong female protagonism, which was decisive in accessing public policies for the development of agroecological proposals and strengthening organizational actions.
