Sumario:This article shows an approach to the way in wich the genre of the novel is presented didactically in the curricular área of Language and Literature in the secondary school. For this, we focus on specific dimension: the approach and didactic strategies that are underneath in the "literature classrooms" (Gerbaudo, 2011) of the teachers for the Reading of de novels proposed in this school subjet. From this point of view, we analize a collection of writings that allowed us to get relevant information about the processes and the reading practice involved in the teaching of genre and literary theories that support those practices. Additionally, we also set out categories that allowed us to note and final out some detected problematic issues.
