The level of basic theoretical knowledge of the Scientific Research Seminar subject was evaluated after applying a virtual learning environment to students from the "Enrique Guzmán y Valle" National University of Peru. The sample was 36 students. A virtual classroom was designed in Moodle platform which was used by the experimental group and the control group carried out the course in a traditional way. The performance of the groups was measured according to the average grade at the end of the course and the number of projects delivered, through a Student t test with significance p < 0.05. The experimental group had better performance, with statistically significant differences observed between the grades at the end of the course with a 95% confidence level. Considerando que la docencia presencial no atiende de forma satisfactoria la nueva demanda educativa, y que el aprendizaje virtual utiliza y provee diferentes estrategias y métodos, se llevó a cabo un estudio que evaluó el nivel de conocimientos teóricos básicos de la asignatura Seminario de Investigación Científica después de aplicar un ambiente virtual de aprendizaje en estudiantes de la Maestría de Gestión y Docencia Universitaria de la Universidad Nacional Enrique Guzmán y Valle, de Perú. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 36 estudiantes. Se diseñó un aula virtual en plataforma Moodle, la cual fue utilizada por el grupo experimental, mientras que el grupo control realizó el curso de forma tradicional. Se midió el rendimiento de los grupos en función de la calificación promedio al final del curso y el número de proyectos entregados, mediante una prueba t de Student con significancia p < 0,05. El grupo experimental obtuvo mejor rendimiento y además se observaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre las calificaciones al final del curso con un nivel de confianza de 95 %.
