Tradicionalmente las actividades prácticas en las clases de química eran concebidas como trabajos de laboratorio, hoy las TICs nos ofrecen la posibilidad de realizar actividades de índole procedimental usando una computadora e Internet y de este modo ampliar y favorecer la promoción de otros procedimientos. En este artículo nos proponemos caracterizar una estrategia, la webquest (WQ), que ofrece mucho potencial para ser usada no sólo en las clases de química sino también en las clases de ciencias naturales. Explicitaremos los fundamentos epistemológicos y psicológicos en la que se sustentan las WQ y los resultados de la aplicación de una WQ en un grupo de maestros en formación.
