Although this was a more comfortable option for several groups of students, in recent years a decline in the number of students taking the course was observed. On the other hand and in addition to this, there was a necessity for continuous innovation in our teaching methodologies in virtual scenarios. It was within this context that in 2016 the online course was transformed by the adoption of some characteristics of MOOC courses. Taking into account the number of students that enrolled and took the course in 2016, we concluded that its implementation was successful since most of them finished and passed. In this work, we present a retrospective and comparative perspective of the online course in both modalities, and we also reflect on the impact on teaching. Inglés Técnico se ha dictado en la Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias Agropecuarias de la Universidad Nacional de San Luis con modalidad virtual desde 2008, como otra opción de cursado además de la presencial. A pesar de la comodidad que esta modalidad representó para varias cohortes, se observó en los últimos años un declive en la cantidad de estudiantes cursantes. Por otro lado, se sumó a lo anterior nuestro deseo de continuar innovando en metodologías de enseñanza a través de la virtualidad. Así, durante 2016 se realizaron cambios para que el curso adoptara algunas características de los MOOC. En relación con el número de estudiantes que se inscribieron y realizaron la asignatura bajo la nueva modalidad, se concluyó que la implementación fue exitosa ya que la mayoría terminó de cursar e incluso promocionó la asignatura. En este trabajo se presenta una mirada retrospectiva y comparativa del dictado de la asignatura con ambas modalidades y se reflexiona con respecto al impacto en la enseñanza.
