| Sumario: | In this paper I explore the decisions on code-switching between mapuchezungun and Spanish in texts and metatexs by three poets: Elicura Chihuailaf, Liliana Ancalao and Adriana Paredes Pinda. Chihuailaf and Ancalao write poems in both languages and they resort to the notion of 'oraliture' to think about the relation between Mapuchezungun and Spanish in writing and translation. Paredes Pinda’s poem is written in a mixture of languages though predominantly in Spanish. She does not translate or use a glossary but translation appears as the core of a reflection on language. In this paper I use the notion of ‘Kuñifal’ (in Mapuche), which means orphan. |
