This simulacrum is what concerns us in this work in which we consider the case of Mario Monteforte Toledo’s novel Llegaron del mar (1966). The analysis of the choices made by the agent, both those explicitly stated in the paratexts as those involved in the way of constructing the story and its characters on the basis of pre-hispanic texts, allows us to infer a particularly valued enonciator’s figure. Considerar que el discurso es una práctica, implica, en nuestro caso, entenderlo como resultado de una serie de opciones realizadas por un agente extratextual que construye un “mundo” – el enunciado – al mismo tiempo que propone un simulacro de sí mismo. Este último es el que nos ocupa en el presente trabajo en el que abordamos un caso, el de la novela de Mario Monteforte Toledo, Llegaron del mar (1966). El análisis de las opciones realizadas por el agente, tanto las explícitamente enunciadas en los paratextos como las que intervienen en su modo de construir la historia y los personajes sobre la base de textos prehispánicos, nos permiten inferir una figura del enunciador particularmente valorada.
