Our work is divided into three sections. First, we characterise Saer's rewriting operations on the biblical hypotext, by recovering categories from Genette's theory of transtextuality. Secondly, we jote down some ideas about the function of this work-within-the-work in relation to the novel as a whole. Finally, as a conclusion, we propose a general approach to Saer’s rewriting of the Bible in his novels.
