For this, at first, we establish a theoretical-critical journey through the links that imagination develops with materiality, images, power, invention mainly from the contributions of Soto Calderón (2022). In a second moment, we develop a cartography for three critical moments in which the imagination releases a power capable of challenging certain meanings around the end and exhaustion: trance as a critical instance in Jens Andermann (2018), the virtuality of space in Fermín Rodríguez (2010), the speculative drift and the public imagination in Josefina Ludmer (2020). This tour also illuminates the link between space and imagination in contemporary criticism. El presente trabajo analiza el sitio destacado que ocupa la imaginación en el escenario de la crítica contemporánea. Disputando un modo de hacer y de intervenir específicos, la imaginación propone en la escena actual una interrogación y un modo de exploración desde el trabajo de la ficción en un contexto generalizado de crisis. Para ello, en un primer momento, establecemos un recorrido teórico-crítico por los vínculos que desarrolla la imaginación con la materialidad, las imágenes, la potencia, la invención principalmente desde los aportes Soto Calderón (2022). En una segunda instancia, desarrollamos una cartografía por tres momentos críticos en los que la imaginación libera una potencia capaz de impugnar ciertos sentidos en torno al fin y el agotamiento: el trance como instancia crítica en Jens Andermann (2018), la virtualidad del espacio en Fermín Rodríguez (2010), la deriva especulativa y la imaginación pública en Josefina Ludmer (2020).
