Sumario:The Brazilian higher education system went through an unprecedented transformation in the first decades of the 21st century, with an expansion of private institutions with profitable purposes and a quick distant learning development. Thus, this quantitative and descriptive study analyses the higher education performance in Brazil based on indicators of flows from students starting undergraduate courses in 2015 that were followed until 2020, based on data by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira. The research revealed low performance according to the trajectory follow-up indicators, with high rates of abandonment and low ones of permanence and conclusion, mainly in institutions with profitable purposes and in distant learning courses.
