| Sumario: | This article analyzes two dimensions related to the integration of science and technology in MERCOSUR. On the one hand, it conducts a broad overview of the Latin American experience in science and technology policy. On the other hand, it reconstructs the trajectory of the MERCOSUR Specialized Meeting on Science and Technology (RECYT), taking as an informative source the minutes of its periodic meetings, from its creation in 1992 to its last meeting in 2021. This article also analyses the scientific production of MERCOSUR countries, in accordance with bibliometric sources that allow inferring different trends towards regional cooperation by the scientific communities of the aforementioned countries. Although linking causes and effects exceeds the purposes and possibilities of this article, its authors suggest lines of reflection and analysis that should be explored. |
