Tornquist, Argentina Beron de la Puente, Federico Javier Gil, Verónica Zapperi, Paula Andrea Soil is a nonrenewable resource and the support of many productive activities. When water erosion process is activated, a loss of the fertile soil layer occurs as well as a decrease in the water retention capacity. The aim of this work is a preliminary analysis of the edaphic factor in sedimentary processes associated with water erosion in a mountain micro scale basin. For this, the erodibility index of soil (K Factor) was estimated using satellite imagery and GIS tools. In the whole study area, edaphic characteristics lead to a range from moderate to high susceptibility to erosion. Values of K Factor greater than 0.45 according to soil texture comprise almost 70% of the area and are attributed to the cohesive character of Argiustole soils. This type of soil tends to be eroded by the impact of raindrops which causes it to detach and later transportation by the runoff. On the other hand, the gully system is classified as a medium type with a well-defined surface drainage system.
