In addition to its role in the recovery of archaeological materials, it is important as an experience of creation of institutional and personal relationships, and reconnaissance of and approach to the landscape and its inhabitants. The aim of this paper is to discuss the way in which social relations made during fieldwork have an impact on the way in which different agents within the community connect with the archaeologists, the materials, and the knowledge that is being generated. To this end, the experience of a work team with an extensive career in the archaeology of the Pampean region is analyzed from a diachronic perspective, namely the archaeological research carried out in the middle and lower basin of the Salado River, in particular in the district of Chascomús.
