Sumario:In a context of climate emergency associated with the indiscriminate use of energy and material resources, it is urgent to design tools that contribute to the formulation of policies in this area. In this line, and given the importance of educational institutions in the training for sustainable development, it is important to know the level of environmental sensitivity of school communities leading to the design of strategies framed in the concept of social responsibility. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the behavior of a school community in the San Juan Metropolitan Area with respect to environmental care, the use of electricity, gas, water and recycling, by applying the School Community Environmental Sensitivity Index developed in the framework of the research project ‘Metodología de evaluación y calificación de la sustentabilidad ambiental para escuelas. Aplicación en casos de estudio del Área Metropolitana de San Juan’. The results, transferred to a label, aim to achieve a greater understanding of the community as a whole. Although it is concluded that the case study presents an environmentally sustainable performance by reaching a B level, aspects to be improved can be inferred.
