The social representations of materialities, the adaptation to the irregular management of the Atuel River and the State interventions throughout housing public policies, motivated changes in the technological choices of the regional groups. The objectives of this paper are: to expose the advancement of the industrialization of construction materials and their associated techniques in the rural dwellings from Paso Maroma and Paso de los Algarrobos, to reflect on the role of the State in this process and, lastly, to characterize the dynamics that are involved in the economic expansion border which exists between the use of industrialized materials and local practices related to earthen building techniques. To that end, we utilize a qualitative methodology and combine the review of documentary sources with field work carried out since 2018. The results indicate the presence of a dialogue between two production models whose territorial limits are not clear, but they coexist in a border where the resistance and overlap of the practices are continuous.   A partir de la década de 1990, la población rural del oeste de La Pampa (Argentina) modificó en forma acelerada sus formas de producir arquitecturas domésticas. Las representaciones sociales sobre los materiales constructivos, la adaptación al manejo irregular del río Atuel y las intervenciones del Estado desde las políticas públicas relacionadas a la vivienda, motivaron cambios en las elecciones tecnológicas de los grupos de la región. Este trabajo plantea como objetivos: exponer el avance de la industrialización de los materiales de la construcción y sus técnicas asociadas en los puestos de Paso Maroma y Paso de los Algarrobos, reflexionar sobre el rol del Estado en este proceso y, por último, caracterizar las dinámicas en la frontera de expansión económica entre la utilización de materiales industrializados y las prácticas locales asociadas a sistemas constructivos con tierra y entramados. Para ello, se utiliza una metodología cualitativa que cruza la revisión de fuentes documentales con trabajo de campo realizado desde 2018. Los resultados indican que existe un diálogo entre dos modelos de producción de las arquitecturas cuyo límite territorial no es claro, sino que conviven en una frontera donde la resistencia y la superposición de las prácticas son continuas.
