El campo semántico del término griego pathos, de donde derivan términos como patología y pasiones, ha sido reducido en las disciplinas actuales ligadas a la salud mental a lo patológico, generando una oposición con lo que sería normal que varía según los intereses que determinan las clasificaciones. Una revisión sucinta de la historia de este término clásico y de su importancia en psicoanálisis permite iluminar el campo de lo que en esta disciplina es síntoma y analizable, y la relación entre pasión y deseo inconsciente. Le champ sémantique du terme grec pathos, dont dérivent des termes tels que pathologie et passions, a été réduit dans les disciplines actuelles liées à la santé mentale au pathologique, générant une opposition avec ce qui serait normal qui varie en fonction des intérêts qui déterminent les classifications. Un bref rappel de l'histoire de ce terme classique et de son importance dans la psychanalyse permet d'éclairer le champ du symptomatique et de l'analysable dans cette discipline, ainsi que le rapport entre passion et désir inconscient.
