In this direction, we will ask how to understand and determine the animated documentary, what characteristics it has, and what are its expressive possibilities. Finally, if we examine its potential, it is also important to be able to think about its limits. Se puede afirmar que en los últimos años se ha producido en el cine documental un giro animado; es decir, un uso cada vez mayor de la animación para representar la realidad. El presente artículo se propone problematizar dicho giro a partir de lo que a primera vista puede parecer un oxímoron: la animación como cine de lo real. En esa dirección, nos preguntaremos cómo comprender y determinar al documental animado, qué características posee y cuáles son sus posibilidades expresivas. Finalmente, si se examinan sus alcances resulta importante también poder pensar sus límites.
