Sumario:What challenges does mathematics education face today with respect to its possible contribution to democracy? Paying attention to the types of subjectivities that are fabricated in the practices of mathematics education, and promoted by curricular plans, opens the possibility of questioning the violence that often happens in the encounter with school mathematics. The current world of climate change requires that such questioning leads us to new pedagogical imaginations that allow the dignity of being.
