Mostraremos, usando un poco de álgebra, que la versión inglesa del juego tiene solución en el centro (dada por de Bruijn en 1972) y que la versión francesa no la tiene. Seleccionamos de la literatura del tema algunas soluciones interesantes, simétricas y la más cortas posibles.
