One of the main aspects in R. Gallegos´ work and thought is the effort he makes to delineate, by means of a fictional narration, some conceptual bases from which a renewed social imagining may consolidate more in accordance with the socio-political needs of modern Venezuela. Here, it is put forward the existence of a double literary game, that develop some intellectuals and Latin American politicians considered “frontier narrators” where the author is also included. As aim, it is proposed to determine what way in R. Gallegos´ thought and work the ideas and topics, he understands must interpretate the different alterities that unhabit the Venezuelan soil for the construction and consolidation project of a modern State, wholly inserted to the international market and ruled by democratic institutions. El presente trabajo forma parte del desarrollo de nuestro Trabajo Final de Licenciatura, en el que se pretende realizar un aporte para una mejor comprensión de la conformación y posterior consolidación de los imaginarios sociales del estado moderno venezolano, mediante un análisis histórico de la producción literaria de Rómulo Gallegos. Uno de los aspectos centrales en la obra y el pensamiento de Gallegos, es el esfuerzo por parte del autor de delinear, mediante un relato ficcional, algunas bases conceptuales desde las cuales pueda consolidarse un imaginario social renovado, más acorde a las necesidades socio-políticas de la Venezuela moderna. Aquí se plantea la existencia de un doble juego literario que llevan adelante algunos intelectuales y políticos latinoamericanos considerados narradores de “fronteras”, donde se incluye el autor. Como objetivo se propone, determinar de qué manera cristalizan en el pensamiento y obra de Rómulo Gallegos las ideas y los tópicos a través de los cuales éste entiende que debe integrarse a las distintas alteridades que habitan el suelo venezolano, al proyecto de construcción y consolidación de un estado moderno, plenamente integrado al mercado internacional y regido por instituciones democráticas.
