In those years, several authors affirmed that the "extinction of the working condition" was because the influence of mining defeat in Calamarca (1986), the emergence of neoliberal policies and the risen of new actors on the social scene. However, the persistence on the fighting for employees’ rights forced to rethink this discussion, fueled by new historiographical contributions. In this article we try to number the most significant ones in the context of discussions on the working class and its mutations, produced in the last decades of the twentieth century. Durante el segundo mandato presidencial de Evo Morales en Bolivia (2010-2014) reapareció la discusión sobre la subjetividad obrera, retomando un debate sobre la viabilidad de los trabajadores como sujeto de cambio que tuvo lugar a principios del nuevo milenio. En aquellos años, varios autores dictaminaron la “extinción de la condición obrera”, bajo la influencia de la derrota minera en Calamarca (1986), la emergencia de las políticas neoliberales y la aparición de nuevos actores en la escena social. Sin embargo, la persistencia de la lucha de los trabajadores asalariados obliga a replantear esta discusión, alimentada por nuevos aportes historiográficos. En este artículo pretendemos dar cuenta de las intervenciones más significativas en el marco de las discusiones sobre la clase obrera y sus mutaciones, producidas en las últimas décadas del siglo XX.
