description This article is to consider science and technology as knowledge and as practical as cultural constructions, as expressions of different theoretical perspectives and changing social meanings. These different conceptions of science-technology-society relationship will highlight the dynamic interaction between social, political and economic actors who, while confronting values, interests and strategies to achieve a particular purpose. Every historical and cultural context may submit divergent political and social values. Science pursues certain aims and objectives, is implemented by various actors and driven by competing interests. Inserted in the dynamics of social relations is linked to ethics and practices. While it may be considered that science and technology are the universal field of knowledge is determined by cultural, political and institutional circumstances of each context. Will these determinations that will recognize the ideological evidence. The work of Amílcar Herrera, Oscar Varsavsky and Jorge Sabato will be analyzed against the proposal of the Club of Rome and the report known as "Limits to Growth (1972)". While referring to the arguments and conclusions of these documents will be made, the emphasis will be on studies thinkers called Latin American thought in science and technology developed in response to the thesis and key findings of the report.

Este artículo considera a la ciencia y a la tecnología como conocimientos y como prácticas, como construcciones culturales, como expresiones de diferentes perspectivas teóricas y de cambiantes significados sociales. Estas diferentes concepciones de la relación ciencia-tecnología-sociedad pondrán de manifiesto la interacción dinámica entre actores sociales, políticos y económicos que, a la vez confrontan en valores, intereses y estrategias para lograr un fin determinado. Cada contexto histórico y cultural podrá presentar valoraciones políticas y sociales divergentes. La ciencia persigue determinados fines y objetivos, es ejecutada por actores diversos y movida por intereses en pugna. Insertada en la dinámica de las relaciones sociales, se vincula con la ética y con las prácticas. Si bien puede considerarse que la ciencia y la tecnología corresponden al campo universal del conocimiento está determinada por las circunstancias culturales, políticas e institucionales de cada contexto. Serán estas determinaciones las que permitirán reconocer sus evidencias ideológicas. Se analizarán los trabajos de Amílcar Herrera, Oscar Varsavsky y Jorge Sabato frente a la propuesta del Club de Roma y al Informe conocido como “Los límites del crecimiento (1972)”. Si bien se hará referencia a las tesis y conclusiones de estos documentos, el acento estará puesto en los estudios que los pensadores del denominado pensamiento latinoamericano en ciencia y tecnología elaboraron como respuesta a la tesis y conclusiones fundamentales del informe.
