The purposive sample includes 69 members of the supporting staff at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, in Mendoza, Argentina. The methodology used combines some quantitative techniques –aiming to assess the sector’s levels of engagement, and some qualitative readings, which help provide an approximation to the expectations and values underlying employee engagement. Results show high levels of vigor and dedication at work, while absorption levels are lower. The qualitative aspect of the research, in turn, is based on predominantly positive views of self-performance and of the university as a work environment. El presente trabajo tiene como finalidad indagar sobre diversas variables psicosociales y organizacionales ligadas al compromiso en el trabajo. El análisis efectuado prioriza aquellos aspectos vinculados a la Psicología de la Salud Ocupacional Positiva, especialmente los niveles de Engagement. Se trabajó con una muestra intencional de 69 empleados del staff de apoyo de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina. El diseño metodológico combina técnicas cuantitativas destinadas a conocer los niveles de Engagement del sector, con algunas lecturas cualitativas que permiten una aproximación a las expectativas y valoraciones que subyacen al compromiso laboral. Los resultados obtenidos permiten identificar valores elevados vinculados al Vigor y Dedicación en el trabajo, siendo más débiles los niveles de Absorción en relación a la propia tarea. Por su parte, la instancia cualitativa se centra en valoraciones predominantemente positivas vinculadas al propio desempeño y a la universidad como contexto laboral.
