In order to do this, the articles in the socialist’s newspaper called La Vanguardia are analyzed, based on the hypothesis that this new spectacle, that increased its popularity as part of an early mass culture in the interwar period in Argentina, represented a direct challenge to the Socialist Party’s cultural project.  Este trabajo pretende dar cuenta de las posturas que los socialistas argentinos tuvieron ante las famosas peleas del boxeador Luís Ángel Firpo. En función de esto se analizará la cobertura realizada de las mismas por La Vanguardia, con la hipótesis de que este espectáculo, que crecía de la mano de una incipiente cultura de masas en el período de entreguerras, representaba un desafío para la propia política cultural del Partido Socialista.
