| Sumario: | This paper reflects on the possibilities of installation art as a means for the construction of memory regarding the violence and the horrors of the last civil-military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983). This paper looks into two art installations, Cualquier salida puede ser un encierro [Any exit can be a confinement] (2011) by Graciela Sacco, and La indiferencia [Indifference] (2012) by Marie Orensanz. Both works were specifically conceived and built for the places of memory [Sitios de Memoria] in which they were installed. Due to the ephemeral and experiential character of these works, our analysis draws upon news articles, interviews, visual and audio-visual records, in order to convey the artists’ intentions in creating them. |
