This study aims at describing the role of a Family Health Team in the school community of the José Ignacio Díaz quarter of Córdoba city (Argentina). The methodology employed was institutional diagnosis in order to build diagnostic hypothesis. Formal and informal saturation techniques were employed. The main conclusions are that the task of the Family Health Teams is to strengthen institutions and that the recognition of the work of the professionals in the area of promotion, prevention and community assistance by the community is a previous requisite. Our contribution aims at providing the tools to enable the institution itself to become the reference point of the quarter inhabitant in this field. Por su inserción comunitaria los equipos de salud familiar(ESF) ocupan un lugar clave para trabajar conjuntamente con las escuelas en la promoción de la salud y prevención de la enfermedad. El objetivo general de este trabajo es conocer el lugar del equipo de salud familiar en una comunidad educativa de barrio José Ignacio Días de la ciudad de Córdoba. Lametodología consistió en un diagnostico institucional para la construcción de hipótesis diagnostica. Se utilizaron técnicas formales e informales y por saturación. Las principales conclusiones dan cuenta de la tarea de los equipos de salud familiar (ESF) es fortalecer a las instituciones, pero como paso previo es necesario que la comunidad reconozca alos profesionales que desarrollan tares de promoción, prevención y asistencia comunitaria. Nuestra tarea será el de aportar elementos para que la propia institución se transforme en el verdadero referente del barrio. Escuela de Salud Pública y Ambiente. Fac. Cs.
